Metal Against Cancer 2015 Makes Some Noise!

Metal Aginst Cancer

The 3rd Annual Metal Against Cancer benefit show on February 28, 2015 was a huge success, raising more than $16,000 for the Atlanta Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF) and providing a good time for all! The show took place at the 120 Tavern & Music Hall in Marietta, with many metal fans and ACCF supporters in attendance.

In addition to host band Halcyon Way, who closed the night with a fantastic performance, the show included sets by Überstout, Rigorism, Bishop Lake, Killing Grace, and the Cherry Bombs, who also assisted as volunteers between their stage appearances.

The evening also featured a raffle, with restaurant gift certificates, personal care services, local attraction tickets, and luxury stays at some of Atlanta’s best hotels among the prizes.

Metal Against Cancer was organized by Jon Bodan, who is the guitarist for Halcyon Way. “As a cancer survivor, I saw firsthand how the cost of treatment and the inability to work during that time can affect a family, so I’m very excited to be able to give back a little bit by putting on this event,” said Bodan.

Bodan, who joined the ACCF Board of Directors in 2014, intends to continue Metal Against Cancer as an annual event. Future plans include bringing nationally known acts into the lineup and eventually moving the show to a larger venue.

ACCF thanks all of the bands and performers who donated their time and talents, as well as the sponsors, donors, ticket buyers and amazing volunteers who helped to make the event possible! See pictures of the event on our Facebook page, and be sure to bookmark for next year's show!
